Ozworld Solid Timber Flooring FAQs
Is Ozworld 18mm flooring solid or engineered?
This collection uses solid hardwood throughout each board. It is not engineered timber with a plywood core.
What timber species are available?
The Dex Flooring collection includes Blackbutt, Grey Ironbark, Jatoba, Kempas, Red Ironbark, Spotted Gum, Tallowwood and Tauari. Some species offer different strip configurations.
What is the flooring thickness?
The boards in this collection are 18mm thick. Widths, lengths and packaging vary by timber species and product style.
Does the flooring require sanding after installation?
These boards feature a factory-applied finish, so standard installation does not normally require initial on-site sanding and coating. Always follow the manufacturer's installation guide.
Can solid hardwood flooring be installed over concrete?
Installation over concrete requires an approved system and appropriate moisture management. Suitability depends on the selected product, slab conditions and manufacturer's instructions.

Solid Timber Flooring Installation
Solid hardwood requires an installation
system suited to the selected boards
and subfloor. Before installation,
the surface must meet the required
moisture, flatness and structural conditions.
Installation methods depend on the
product and site. Therefore, follow
the manufacturer’s instructions
for fixing, expansion allowances
and subfloor preparation.
Do not assume solid timber is suitable
for a standard floating installation.
Concrete substrates may also require
specific moisture-management measures.
Solid Timber vs Engineered Timber
Solid timber consists of hardwood
throughout the board. Engineered timber,
in contrast, combines a genuine wood
surface with a supporting layered core.
Both offer natural timber character.
However, they differ in dimensional
stability and installation requirements.

engineered timber flooring collection
for alternative real-wood options.
Care & Maintenance
Regular maintenance helps protect
the timber surface. Sweep or vacuum
using a suitable floor attachment
and remove spills promptly.
Avoid excessive moisture and steam
cleaning. In addition, use furniture
pads and maintain suitable indoor
conditions to manage natural
hardwood movement.
